"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the 'present'."—Master Oogway to Po, Kung Fu Panda The Lord has been revealing to me over the past few months, years that I have an idol in my life...time. I make sacrifices to it, I worship it, it controls my life... However, it is simply a good part of creation that I am called to be a steward of. "Time is a precious resource, a gift entrusted to us by God. We have no idea how much of it he will give us."
Much like my checkbook would tell you where my priorities truly lie, how much would time more if every second of my life were recorded? It's when we realize that time, like our very bodies, is not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), that we can see it for what it truly is...a critical resource we have in our possession. Time is unlike other resources we're used to manging, such as money, because it is a series of moments that we can never recover or do over. Thus, how do we honor God with our time? If we long to control time, doesn't it end up controlling us? It is only when we discover the purpose for the time that we been given that we can begin to honor God with it.
