Jan Vermeer van Delft, 1654 “But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:41-42) While caricatures of Martha and Mary are not provided in scripture, they seem to fit personality types of people in our own lives. In this, drawing conclusions is merely speculation, but the implications of the parallels these sisters have on our own lives, we might just gain a glimpse as to what Jesus' might say to us.
