It is not necessary that you are also a follower of christ, if you are in liking of the facts and ways of this religion then you can be a follower.

Please excuse me, but I'm not sure I follow your line of reason. If you like the facts and ways of Christ and wish to be a follower, then there is nothing stopping you from being a follower of Christ other than your conscious choice to do so or not to do so.
